I also would like to give my two cents on the train issue. We need the Maglev train for Las Vegas to Los Angeles, not, DesertXpress to Victorville, CA. There is nothing in Victorville, CA! Sir, it just makes plain, logical sense to have a train that is proven in Japan to be the best bet of travel for state-to-state. State-to-State for 2 of the biggest tourists spots in the country.
To give a more visual presentation on why, just close your eyes and think about it.
Maglev train: close your eyes and think about how this sounds;
Las Vegas to Anaheim, Ca. in less than 3 hours. With a connecting train or bus, to Los Angeles for museums, Football, Baseball, Basketball games, lots of shopping and Walt Disney.
Desert Xpress train: Now, keep your eyes close and think; Las Vegas to Victorville. Desert, more desert, and you have to rent a car to drive another 90 minutes to Los Angeles. Now, open your eyes and say, “The Maglev makes so much sense.”
Establish a public vote for the train will prove that the people would rather take the Maglev to Los Angeles, due to the quickness and green-ness it possesses, instead of, going to the middle of nowhere and having to rent a car to drive another 90 minutes to Los Angeles. So backwards. There are government dollars that are still available somewhere for Nevada to get started on this project. When the construction starts, you can even send out invitations to all the wealthy citizens of the State to buy a mile of track, like the “Adopt a Highway” program. Governor, you can still make this happen Las Vegas needs to be one up on the future, not taking steps backwards. The Maglev is the way to go for expanding and bringing more dollars to Nevada, and the train will do that and pay for itself within a year.
Why isn’t anything being done about starting the construction for the train? If everybody worrying about jobs, well, here is the opportunity to get jobs. Please let’s start building the train to Los Angeles. There are a lot of people who are so available to work, including myself. You the Governor, can make it happen.
